“Trust your dog.”

That was advice K9 training graduation speaker Wall Police Chief Robert Brice wanted to leave with the group of handlers.

Brice also told the graduates and their families that having a K9 is a complete commitment, as the dog goes home and lives with the family each night.

Wall Police has three K9 dogs, one for bomb sniffing and two for patrol and narcotics.

Brice, who is a former K9 handler himself, said the K9 unit is an asset to the agency.

Costa Rica News – Twenty-one canines have been generously donated by Costa Rican households for the Canine Unit (K-9) belonging to the Ministry of Public Security who’ll be graduating this coming Friday, as law enforcement officers to assist in narcotic detecting, locating explosives, and for the first time, assisting in discovering currency and counterfeit notes.

After 13 weeks of training, the newest class of K-9 officers have graduated and are ready to protect and serve South Jersey.

Scent class number 29 graduated 18 members Friday in Galloway Township.

Over the course of the program, the dogs were imprinted with the scents of drugs and explosives so that they’ll be able to recognize them in the field.

ZANESVILLE — A West Virginia man was found with four pounds of marijuana Monday after a drug sniffing dog alerted officers to a scent in the vehicle the man was traveling in, according to Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Sam Hendricks.

Mark Smith, 23, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., was charged with possession of marijuana, a fifth-degree felony.

Drug smugglers are learning a lesson the hard way: Detour around Ohio unless you want to get busted. Euro, Jack, Miki and Pluto are a big part of the reason that drug seizures on Ohio highways have increased dramatically this year from 2012 — 137 percent in methamphetamines, 87 percent in cocaine and 25 percent in heroin.

MARION – The Marion Police Department introduced the newest addition to its K9 Unit Saturday morning at its third annual Pancake Breakfast.

Fador is now the bomb dog as 12-year-old Rico retires. The department said this is only the second time it’s had a ceremonial swap with its police dogs.
